The introduction of new digital tools in the SIYB Programme
 
With a view to supporting business survival, recovery and restart during and after Covid-19 pandemic, the ILO Global SIYB team in collaboration with the ILO International Training Centre in Turin developed a set of SIYB online tools ("e-SIYB") to support the global network of trainers and to facilitate delivery of the SIYB programme where face-to-face trainings are not possible. Building on PAGE work for a Green Recovery in Jiangsu
 
In December 2019, a Green Development week took place in Suzhou (Jiangsu province, China) to provide a platform for cross-sectoral dialogue, learning and information exchange in order to boost green development. KoSEA and ILO convene a second virtual interim workshop with the country researchers for the ILO project on strengthening SSE policy in Asia
 
Officials of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency (KoSEA) and ILO staff members met online with country researchers for the project to discuss the feedback from the second drafts of the case studies. The researchers will present their key findings from each of the six Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia) at an international conference on 22 September 2020. Read more

The UNTFSSE virtual event: “What role for the Social and Solidarity Economy in the post COVID-19 crisis recovery?”
 
The United Nations Inter-agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) organized this virtual event to discuss roles of SSE in a "better recovery" from COVID-19. The speakers elaborated upon the transformative role SSE can play, in a pluralist economy – in pursuing the SDGs and highlighted the need to unlock its potential to tackle the current structural economic, societal, social and environmental crises. Read more

ITCILO launches new online course on “Financing Decent Work” (12–30 October)
 
This brand new 3-week online course will explore the current state of SDG financing, with a particular focus on SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). International Labour Standards and Corporate Social Responsibility: the labour dimension of human rights due diligence (19 October to 13 November)
 
The ILO's International Labour Standards are a critical component of Corporate Social Responsibility and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD). If they are to respect workers' rights, it is essential that companies have a solid understanding of the rights concerned. Case Brief: People's Education and Development Organization: Krishi-Sakhis
 
Insurance outreach to vulnerable and excluded farmers requires a carefully thought-out approach. In India, the People's Education and Development Organization (PEDO) found that members of women’s self-help groups can become powerful advocates for insurance within their communities. This Case Briefs shows PEDO’s work on providing agriculture support and advice to the community through their "Krishi-Sakhis". Read more

ILO SCORE Programme Egypt's Results
 
In 2018, the ILO-project "Egypt Youth Employment (EYE): Working Together in Qalyoubia and Menoufia" implemented SCORE Programme in Egypt on a pilot basis within its framework, assisting and aiming for 30 enterprises to maintain cooperative and safe workplaces. This end-results report provides details, improvements, and achievements of all participatory enterprises in SCORE training. It also gives insights on all SCORE modules' adaptations to different factories and companies. Read more

An Update on ILO COOP 100 Symposium Paper Submissions
 
The ILO launched a call for papers  for an ILO COOP 100 Symposium. By the deadline for submission (August 15), a total of 33 submissions were received from researchers in leading research centers and universities and practitioners in cooperatives and wider social and solidarity economy (SSE) organizations around the world. Read more

An Update on the ILO COOP 100 Photo Exhibit Submissions
 
The ILO launched a call for photos toward a series of ILO COOP 100 Photo Exhibitions to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its Cooperatives Unit (COOP) . Following the deadline for submission (June 22), a total of 379 photos were received from 37 organizations in 33 countries across five continents. Read more

An Update on ILO COOP 100 Interview Series
 
An oral history initiative, ILO COOP 100 Interview series  features past and present colleagues and partners who have contributed to and collaborated with the ILO on advancing cooperatives and the wider SSE enterprises.
