Italy-ILO cooperation to support Palestinian cooperatives

| The ILO has launched a new programme to develop Palestinian cooperatives and social entrepreneurship in order to boost sustainable development in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). The Cooperative Support Programme is a component of the 3-year Programme “Be the Impact”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation with the aim to strengthen the Palestinian cooperative sector as well as to consolidate the core principles of social entrepreneurship. New financial education materials

The financial education training portfolio continues to grow! In Ghana and Nigeria, Social Finance just published new training material targeting potential and returning migrants. The programme was also introduced last month in Ecuador and Peru to benefit Venezuelan migrants and vulnerable communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. These initiatives highlight the importance of building financial capabilities of migrants at all stages of the migration cycle (pre-departure, at destination, upon return). Read more

GIIN launches new investment theme on “Quality Jobs”

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), with the support of the ILO and ITCILO, has launched a new investment theme dedicated to " Quality Jobs" as part of its Navigating Impact project! This theme draws on the collective knowledge and experience of a diverse set of 150+ stakeholders to help investors select impact strategies and adopt recommended sets of metrics that track performance toward their goals. This theme is especially relevant in the face of the economic implications of COVID-19 around the world and amidst conversations about progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Greening Women-Led SMEs in Burkina Faso

A PAGE-facilitated green entrepreneurship training was held to assist business owners in improving ecological standards by fostering the greening of their businesses. This particular training course falls under an ILO programme, which overall plans to develop a coaching package for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to guide them in greening their businesses. Online Course on Enterprise Formalization
|

| The course was developed by ILO SME unit in cooperation with ITC-ILO. It targets ILO staff, constituents and others interested in the topic. It is a self-guided learning tool which takes around five hours to complete. The course covers the following thematic areas: 1) Introduction to informality in MSMEs, 2) Simplifying business registration, 3) Incentives to formalize, 4) Business productivity, 5) Enforcement and compliance and 6) Role of social dialogue. SME Productivity: a course for policy-makers (7–18 December)

| This course aims to help participants design policies that improve the productivity and working conditions of SMEs. Participants will use productivity measurement methods to analyze policy options and, ultimately, make informed recommendations. The programme provides a step-by-step look at real policies and strategies, as well as a space to practice core skills. |

ILO Environmental Sustainability Action Plans for 2018–21

Enabling Environment for Sustainable Entreprises (EESE) in Central African Republic

| In 2018-2019, the ILO has implemented an EESE programme in Central African Republic, following the request from the two national employers' organizations UNPC and GICA. The first step in the process has been the evaluation of the country's enabling environment, taking account the specific context of fragility and post-conflict recovery.
