ILO presents on the SSE to the African Regional Labour Administration Centre

The ILO made two presentations on the Social and Solidarity Economy at the 48th African Regional Labour Administration Centre (ARLAC) Governing Council meeting for Ministers responsible for Labour/Employmnent/Manpower issues in Anglophone Africa and Ministerial High-Level Sympsia on February 16, 2022.

ILO presents on women’s cooperatives at a side event during the 60th session of the UN Committee on Social Development

ILO COOP Manager provided a keynote message at a side event on February 11, 2022. She presented on the role that cooperatives have played in providing services to their members and wider communities during COVID19 crisis. She also reflected on the lessons learned from the performance of cooperatives that can inform the way forward in building resilience for women workers in the informal and rural economies. More

The UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy held its 38th regular meeting

The 38th UNTFSSE meeting was held virtually on 24 February 2022. It focused on the reflections on mainstreaming and enhancing the international dimension of the SSE, including a possible UN resolution on the SSE, updates on the ongoing and future activities of the Knowledge Hub, among others. More

“The role of cooperatives in eliminating child labour” tool from the ILO is now available in Spanish

The translation of the training package was supported by the ILO Country Office for Argentina and the Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour, a platform of employers' and workers' from 30 countries in the region that promotes national policies to prevent and eliminate child labour. More

Call for Consultancies

Call for a consultant to develop a communication strategy on the SSE and support its implementation

ILO COOP is inviting a call for applications for a consultant to develop a communication strategy and support its implementation ahead of the general discussion on “Decent Work and the Social and Solidarity Economy” at the International Labour Conference in 2022. Call for a national consultant to evaluate and make recommendations on the Guidelines concerning Statistics of Cooperatives in Turkey

The ILO is inviting applications for a national consultant as part of an initiative on to studying the applicability of the international Guidelines concerning statistics of Cooperatives to the national context. The deadline to submit expressions of interest is March 10, 2022. More

Assessment of the cooperative development potential in the red fruit, horticulture and dairy sub-sectors in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region in Morocco

The assessment analyses the current status and potential role that cooperatives can play in strengthening the position and capacity of producers in the value chains of three sub-sub sectors (red berries, market gardening and dairy) in Morocco. This CECOP publication looks into the experiences of Confcooperative Federsolidarietà (Italy) and COCETA (Spain) in measuring the social impact of social and worker cooperatives. It provides insights on how consolidated social impact measurement practices can be instrumental in enabling continuous self-improvement of cooperatives. Such measurements can provide evidence on cooperatives’ contributions to social inclusion, decent work, democratic participation, and social & economic sustainability. More
