ILO COOP Staff Roberto di Meglio retires
|

Roberto di Meglio retires from the ILO after 32 years of service. Mr. di Meglio had been working as a Senior Specialist on local development and social and solidarity economy in ILO’s COOP Unit since 2011. During this period he also collaborated with ITC-Turin in organizing the ILO’s SSE academies. In addition he led research projects on the SSE and was among ILO staff participating in the UN Task Force on SSE. More

This brochure is introducing the ILO's initiative on the ‘Guidelines concerning Statistics of Cooperatives’ adopted at the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) in October 2018 and then approved by the Governing Body of the ILO in March 2019. The guidelines are a first step toward an international norm on statistics of cooperatives. This initiative envisages the evaluation of the information on the methods of collecting, organizing and analyzing statistical data on cooperatives in the light of the guidelines in Italy, Tanzania, Turkey, Costa Rica and Republic of Korea. Policy Recommendations To Support Cooperative Ownership in the Digital Economy

This report provides a path for the promotion of platform cooperatives, businesses that sell goods or services through a website, mobile app, or protocol. It highlights how platform cooperatives build on their proven business models and rely on democratic decision-making and shared platform ownership by workers and users. It further suggests that platform cooperatives can match workers and customers and return a greater share of income to workers, increase worker protections, and help build communities. More
