Energy and Jobs to Power the Future
|
|
|
|
The ILO, together with IEA and IRENA and in cooperation with the UK COP26 Presidency, are convening the Just Transition Forum 2021 from 13 to 17 December.
The Forum will serve as a meeting point to discuss the outcomes of the UN Climate Change Conference, research insights, public policies and business practices related to the employment-energy transition nexus. It is meant to help co-create ideas and solutions for promoting a just energy transition. |

ILO pilots a business formalization coaching programme
|

| A training programme for coaches was launched with the ultimate goal to coach agri-entrepreneurs on business formalization. In partnership with JR Farms Africa and the FAO, the ILO trained 30 coaches from Nigeria, Rwanda and Uganda and guided them to identify business formalization requirements and incentives in the respective countries. Coaches are currently pilot-testing this new approach to assist entrepreneurs along the formalization journey. Read more |

Approach to Inclusive Market Systems (AIMS) Training and Certification Launched in Peru
|

Under the framework of the project “Promotion of the socioeconomic integration of Venezuelan migrants and refugees with the Peruvian population” financed by USAID, the ILO has initiated a process of certification and training in AIMS. This process aims to create a network of professionals in the country with the skills to develop an AIMS assessment and support the implementation of market interventions, with the ultimate goal of generating more and better jobs for the migrant and refugee population and host communities. How business service providers have adapted to COVID-19 by going digital – Validation Workshop
|

In collaboration with students of the Graduate Institute for International Development Studies ( IHEID) and the ILO-WED programme, the Rebuilding Better Project implemented in Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand is conducting research on how business service providers have been able to adopt digital technologies to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and continue providing services to women entrepreneurs. The validation workshop was held on November 24th with service providers across the three countries and the report will be available by the end of the year. Read more

Diagnosis on informality of jobs and enterprises in forced displacement context in Uganda

| This report assesses drivers of informality in refugee settlements and host communities in target regions of the PROSPECTS programme and identifies opportunities to improve working conditions and reduce informality. The analysis demonstrates how the formalization ecosystem (e.g. concerning business and tax registration, access to social protection) and the application of labour, social and fiscal laws and regulations could be improved to formalize jobs and enterprises. Productivity ecosystem for decent work: a course for policy-makers and practitioners
This training course enhances the skills of policy-makers and practitioners in assessing and designing policies to improve productivity and working conditions in SMEs. The course aims to inspire policy-makers and practitioners to adopt a systemic approach to SME productivity that encompasses an effective combination of macro- and meso-level policies, the creation of a conducive business environment and the strengthening of SME support institutions, together with intervention at the enterprise level.

Entrepreneurship games through Virtual Reality: Training of Trainers
This training of trainers combines Virtual Reality with entrepreneurship games. It is designed for entrepreneurship trainers and educators who see the potential of both gamification and VR. This very first ToT will enable participants to: 1) get to know the ILO entrepreneurship games, 2) play and interact with their peers in the VR space, 3) use the entrepreneurship games in future face-to-face or VR trainings.
