Registration is now open for the 12th edition of the ILO Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE)
 
The International Labour Organization (ILO), the  International Training Centre of the ILO (ITC-ILO) and  Cooperative António Sérgio for Social Economy (CASES) of Portugal, are co-organising the 12th edition of the Academy on SSE titled “Building back better: the role of the Social and Solidarity Economy in a people-centred and planet-sensitive recovery”. The first ever virtual Academy on SSE will take place from 15 to 26 November 2021 in English, Portuguese, French and Spanish.

Strengthening Social and Solidarity Economy Knowledge Base
 
The project aims to contribute towards creating an enabling legal and policy framework that could enhance the visibility and raise awareness about the contribution of SSE towards achieving inclusive and sustainable development and decent work. ILO and the UNTFSSE will participate in the OECD event “The Social and Solidarity Economy: From the Margins to the Mainstream”
 
The high-level virtual conference "The Social and Solidarity Economy: From the Margins to the Mainstream" will be the first international conference part of the OECD Global Action. Three research papers on SSE statistics have been released by the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE)
 
The UNTFSSE Knowledge Hub project “Opportunities and Challenges of Statistics on SSE” has the goal to enrich discussions around statistics on the social and solidarity economy (SSE) both within and beyond the UN system. In this framework, three research papers on SSE statistics have been released and are now available. They aim at supporting stakeholders to deepen their understanding of the methodologies on SSE and policymakers to establish and improve SSE statistical systems. More

Exploring Social and Solidarity Economy’s (SSE) Development in Asia
 
There is growing interest in the SSE globally, yet the understanding on the definition, size, scale, impact, limitations and potential of the SSE is in early stages of development in Asia and the Pacific region. In order to contribute towards bridging the gap, the ILO has embarked on a two-year project on Strengthening Social and Solidarity Economy Policy in Asia. In its first phase the project aimed to: raise awareness on the SSE; and convene relevant stakeholders together to advance the SSE policy in in six countries in Asia - Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines. This video provides a brief overview of what SSE is in general and highlights key elements of its development in Asia and the Pacific region. To learn more, please visit ILO COOP.
