The UN Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) held its 35th regular meeting
 
The UNTFSSE meeting was virtually held on 18 May 2021 and brought together around 40 participants including representatives from six member (ILO, UNRISD, UNDESA, UNCTAD, UNDP-ART, UNHRC), twelve observer organizations (CIRIEC, EURICSE, Catalyst2030, EMES, GSEF, Euclid Network, Social Economy Europe, SSE International Forum, RIPESS, CSEND, EESC and ICA) and three resource persons. Read more

How can new technologies help to formalize enterprises?
 
This question was one among various addressed during the South-South Knowledge Sharing Forum on "What works in the e-formalization for Asia and the Pacific" that took place from 18-20 May. Based on a recommended approach to enterprise formalization, one session discussed with tripartite constituents the extent to which technologies can support, for example, the registration and compliance of small economic units and encourage commercial banks to provide finance to formalizing enterprises. Read more

In the Dominican Republic, 50 enterprises and associations improve their quality and productivity through SCORE Training
 
The National Technical and Vocational Training Institute of the Dominican Republic (INFOTEP) has reported the successful conclusion of a programme to implement SCORE Training across the country in more than 50 producing associations and enterprises in the central, northern, southern and eastern regions, in areas of work that included the service sector, graphic arts, agribusiness and manufacturing. Read more

ILO’s Formalize Your Business (FYB) training piloted in Côte d’Ivoire
 
The ILO’s Formalize Your Business (FYB) training was piloted during two in-person workshops in the week of 17 - 21 May in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The FYB training teaches general aspects of enterprise formalization such as the benefits and potential challenges, and provides hands-on guidance to entrepreneurs in the informal economy for navigating through the necessary administrative processes and transitioning their economic activity to the formal economy. Following the evaluation of the two pilot workshops, the training module will be rolled out to other regions. Read more

SCORE Training catalogue
 
SCORE Training is a modular training package and methodology developed by the ILO SCORE Programme. The Training is used to improve productivity, employee-manager cooperation, and working conditions within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). SCORE Training focuses on developing cooperative working relations resulting in shared benefits for enterprise owners and those who work there. It also promotes international best practices in the manufacturing and service sectors, to help SMEs to participate in global supply chains. How does the ILO SCORE Training Address Audit Issues?
 
For many lead buyers, ensuring that suppliers comply with contract and legal requirements is a time-consuming and continuous challenge. SCORE Training seeks to reduce this challenge by demonstrating the financial benefits that SMEs can experience as a result of good working conditions and a safe working environment. Financing Decent Work
Join us and the ITCILO in June and July for the second edition of the “Financing Decent Work” online course! During the training, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to engage in national consultations on SDG finance. You will also become an advocate for the inclusion of Decent Work considerations in national financing strategies and their successful implementation. Later this year, we will also offer the Spanish version (20 September-15 October) and French version (18 October-12 November) of the training.
