ILO Helpdesk for Business: more than 35,000 visitors per month

| More than one million users have now consulted the ILO Helpdesk for Business web site (www.ilo.org/business) since its launch in 2010. The average number of visits per month is 36,452 for the reporting period (March 2020 to February 2021), the highest since the creation of the Helpdesk. During the period, the Helpdesk answered 178 receivable requests, which is a 40.1% increase over the previous reporting time. Much of this surge occurred in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Launch of a financial inclusion initiative for host communities and displaced persons in Iraq

| The ILO and the Central Bank of Iraq, with support from the Government of the Netherlands, will launch a financial inclusion initiative to support host communities and displaced persons in Iraq. The initiative will support young people and small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access much-needed financial services that will help them start and develop their own businesses, while addressing barriers for access to decent self-employment. Online Course on Enterprise Formalization now available in French

| This course was developed by ILO SME unit in cooperation with ITC-ILO. It targets ILO staff, constituents and others interested in the topic, and takes around five hours to complete. It is a self-guided learning tool that covers the following thematic areas: 1) Introduction to informality in MSMEs, 2) Simplifying business registration, 3) Incentives to formalize, 4) Business productivity, 5) Enforcement and compliance and 6) Role of social dialogue.
