You’ll find that it is filled with news, events, informative publications and multimedia products from areas of work that we are enthusiastically working on in the Enterprises Department. We hope you like this new design, format and ways of sharing our knowledge and news with you! We are very much looking forward to your comments and suggestions to help us improve. We want this newsletter to be valuable for you and we wish you an enjoyable read every month!

The 11th edition of the ILO Academy on Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) “The Social Economy in the Future of Work” was held in Madrid, Spain from 14 to 18 October. The Academy was concluded with a manifesto on the role of SSE in the future of work. Read more

The ILO's Intervention in United Nations Climate Action Summit
 
The ILO supported the UN Climate Action Summit in the action area of "Social and Political Drivers", which focuses on the economic, environment and social issues arising from the transition towards greater sustainability. During the summit, the UN Secretary-General announced a new initiative aimed at ensuring that decent job creation and protecting livelihoods are at the center of countries’ efforts to boost climate action. Read more

Launch of the new financial education track
 
Social Finance started working on financial education in 2006 with a small activity promoting financial literacy in Cambodia. Today, our financial education team aims to help people make informed financial choices and ultimately change their financial behavior through our training courses. Read more

Launch of the ILO SME Measurement Toolkit
 
This Toolkit is a practical resource for organisations and projects to support small and medium enterprises (SME) decide what aspects of SME performance to measure, as well as how to measure them. Its special focus on working conditions allows to measure both economic and social performance. Read more

The Training on International Labour Standards and Corporate Social Responsibility
 
The Multinational Enterprises team and ITCILO organised a training course in Turin from 21 to 25 October. The course focused on strengthening the capacity of participants to understand the principles of ILS as they relate to company operations and the implications for CSR and sustainability policies and practices geared towards decent work and sustainable development. Read more

Niger adopts the Bill authorizing the ratification of ILO Convention on Employment Injury Benefits
 
The Parliament of Niger adopts the Bill authorizing the ratification of the ILO C.121 on Employment Injury Benefits. ILO Global Programme on Employment Injury Insurance and Protection supported the adoption through the contribution to a report on the revision of the laws and regulations governing social security in Niger. Read more

Social Finance participation in European Microfinance Week
Luxembourg
The ILO Social Finance unit will join in The European Microfinance Week for high-level and in-depth discussions. One of the plenaries will be dedicated to the ILO’s Centenary and the contribution of the financial sector to protect the working poor; another session will discuss the mitigation of child labour and unsafe work practices.
