The ILO's Intervention in United Nations Climate Action Summit

The ILO supported the UN Climate Action Summit in the action area of "Social and Political Drivers", which focuses on the economic, environment and social issues arising from the transition towards greater sustainability. During the summit, the UN Secretary-General announced a new initiative aimed at ensuring that decent job creation and protecting livelihoods are at the center of countries’ efforts to boost climate action. The Multinational Enterprises team and ITCILO organised a training course in Turin from 21 to 25 October. The course focused on strengthening the capacity of participants to understand the principles of ILS as they relate to company operations and the implications for CSR and sustainability policies and practices geared towards decent work and sustainable development. Social Finance participation in European Microfinance Week
Luxembourg
The ILO Social Finance unit will join in The European Microfinance Week for high-level and in-depth discussions. One of the plenaries will be dedicated to the ILO’s Centenary and the contribution of the financial sector to protect the working poor; another session will discuss the mitigation of child labour and unsafe work practices.
