| The International Conference of Labour Statisticians adopts guidelines on statistics of cooperatives |

| On October 18, 2018, the Guidelines concerning Statistics on Cooperatives were adopted at the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians. The delegates from across regions as well as workers’ and employers’ delegates welcomed the draft guidelines and voted for their adoption at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva. A number of country representatives also echoed their support for conducting pilot-testing of the guidelines and expressed their willingness to participate in the process. |

| ILO shares its work on SSE at GSEF 2018 |
| |
| The 4th edition of the Global Social Economy Forum (GSEF) was organized in Bilbao, Spain by the Bilbao Metropolitan Government in partnership with Laboral Kutxa, a Basque credit union; Mondragon Corporation, a Basque worker cooperatives’ federation; and the Basque Government. The ILO contributed with a speaker at the second plenary session on the role of SSE in addressing emerging challenges in cities as well as by organizing a workshop on SSE and the future of work where the experiences from an ILO project on SSE in Tunisia were shared. | Spanish version of Think.COOP and Start.COOP |
| |
| In addition to the English version, Spanish version of the ILO’s Think.COOP and Start.COOP training tools are now available. They are being rolled out in Peru and Bolivia between October and December 2018. Drawing on technical content from existing ILO cooperative training tools and peer-to-peer, activity-based learning methodology from the ILO’s Community-Based Enterprise Development (C-BED) programme, the training tools aim to help those interested in improving businesses through cooperation understand the basics and benefits of the cooperative model and establish a cooperative in a participatory manner.
